Each person has their essential tools to make sewing more practical. The haberdasheries and influencers are tempting us with all their pretty items. Some are not worth storing and others will be lifelong allies.

Today I will give you my 6 favourite tools that help me make clothes with a flawless finish.

Thimble

It is one of the most important objects in sewing to make beautiful finishes. I do not do a stitch by hand without. It seems like a habit to take, but it is worth it. Not only does it hurt the finger less, but you can also push it more easily in a thick fabric. To adopt!

Scissors

Whether it is a large pair of scissors for cutting lightly through fabrics or a small one for small threads, sharp scissors are essential for sewing. Who hasn't tried to cut a piece of fabric with the kitchen scissors? A massacre! A pair dedicated to this hobby is essential.

Iron

It is not possible to do without! The iron must always be available when sewing a project. Thanks to a good ironing of all the seams at each step, your garment will only be more beautiful.

The sleeve board

The accessory to add to the previous essential object is the sleeve board. This shape allows you to iron seams that are not flat. It takes up space, but it helps a lot.

Machine needles

There are many types of needles to suit different fabrics, whether it is thickness, point or shape. Sewing microfibre with a standard needle will only make you angry with your sewing machine. It is therefore important to choose the right one for your work and peace of mind. I speak from experience.

Metric tape

Ultra-simple and obvious, but fundamental. You will always need to measure something, be it a middle, a hem, a seam. Therefore, it must always be somewhere at hand.

In conclusion, these objects are basic and known and not exhaustive, but they are important and help me to make clothes that I love to wear and that last.
